The Messerschmitt Bf 109E was a German single seat fighter that first saw combat in Spain and continued to serve throughout WWII. Between 1936 and 1945 nearly 35,000 were built. Powered by a Damiler Benz DB 601 liquid cooled engine it had a maximum speed of 342 mph (550km/h).
