This last successful mission of the Space Shuttle Columbia before the ill-fated STS-107 mission which culminated in the Columbia disaster.
This servicing mission 3B, or SM3B, was the next in this series of successful missions to upgrade the NASA Hubble Space Telescope. After SM3B, Hubble's discovery power was increased by 10 times. It received a new scientific instrument, replacement parts, and even a new look - with this mission Hubble was taken to the next level.
