The rocket-powered Bell X1, first developed in 1944, was repeatedly improved upon and would eventually reach speeds of over 1600 mph. Mounted on a sturdy felt-lined base, the Bell X1 model is hand crafted of solid aluminum, and reaches skyward as if in flight. The brass rest on the aluminum base can hold a phone or can be used simply as a place to store your pen or pencil.
